In Memoriam

For those who we have lost along the way. Thank you for touching our lives and our hearts. We will never forget the impact you made.

Hanshi Jim W. Green- 7th Dan

   January 03, 1948 - September 29, 2013

Founder of Cookeville Martial Arts in Cookeville, TN & Kakidote Dojo in Jackson, TN.

Our mentor, our teacher

Sensei Green was one of the last "great" teachers from the "golden days" of martial arts.

During his time as an instructor, he trained many great black belt martial artists; many, of whom, have gone on to instruct their own schools.
"The key to immortality is living a life worth remembering."  Bruce Lee, Founder of Jeet Kun Do

Sometimes we forget that, in addition to being a great teacher, Sensei was still just a man.

Aussie

Jan. 28 2017

I was once told God sends down angels to watch out for us & guide us.  They don't reveal themselves until our darkest hours who they really are.  We call them our friends.

It is said that "dog is man's "best" friend".  I like think of them as our "guardian angels".  Today, at 4:45pm, my guardian angel had to go back over the Rainbow Bridge.  And that is where I know she'll be patiently waiting for me one day.

My dear, sweet Aussie has been with me for 12 years and never left my side, even during the roughest times for me.  She was our dojo mascot.  And all the kids & parents loved her at the dojo.  She absolutely loved going on our dojo camping trips.  They were a real treat for her.  Where ever I went:  to work, to the store, or even the next room, she always wanted be there.

At the very end, she looked me straight in the eyes & cried a tear.  I know that skeptics will say it's from an eye infection or chemical imbalance.  Having never shed a tear before, I like to think she still wanted to stay & was her way of saying "goodbye".

Love you forever, my sweet Aussie.
